Welcome to Nordahl Hall
Nordahl Grieg Lodge is grateful to own and take loving care of Nordahl Hall since 1967. It has become our cherished venue for social events, meetings, seminars, weddings, anniversaries, festivals, feasts, birthday parties, family celebrations, dinners, and dancing. Many of our Lodge members have memories of wonderful times at Nordahl Hall from childhood on. We are proud to share Nordahl Hall with you, so that you can create your own Memories that Matter!!
Nordahl Grieg Lodge is a chapter of Sons of Norway, an international organization that promotes Norwegian and Viking culture, financial independence, building community and fellowship with all. Nordahl Grieg Lodge was founded in San Jose by Norwegian Americans on February 16, 1946. The Lodge is named after the Norwegian poet Nordahl Grieg, who became a hero in Norway because of his resistance to the Nazi Occupation, and who was killed fighting in World War II.
For over 20 years the Lodge held meetings and events in two different locations in San Jose, both with limited facilities and only street parking available. In 1967, the Lodge members voted to purchase our current building, naming it Nordahl Hall. In addition to a large hall and meeting room, we also gained a full kitchen, cozy bar area, meeting area and plentiful parking.
Since that purchase, Nordahl Hall has been our home for meetings, events and celebrations. Each December we host our popular Lutefisk and Meatball Dinner, which serves 1200 people a traditionally prepared Norwegian meal with handmade meatballs, lefse, cookies and fresh frozen lutefisk cod trucked in overnight from Alaska. The Lodge has held this annual traditional meal since 1950.
We invite you to visit Nordahl Hall, and hope you will find this warm and friendly place just right for your special event, meeting or celebration. We hope that Nordahl Hall will become:
Your Venue for Memories that Matter for Your Family, Community, and Business Gatherings.
